Dead or Alive: More details on Mehsud

with one comment

For all intents and purposes, I’m going to assume Baitullah Mehsud is dead, because he really doesn’t seem to be emerging from the dead anytime soon, despite the conflicting statements that several TTP leaders and other splinter groups have given. The Pakistani and American governments seem entirely convinced he’s dead, so lets just go along with that theory until y’know, Mehsud pops up out of nowhere.

More details on his death:

Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud was killed last week in a CIA drone attack while getting a leg massage on the roof of his father-in-law’s house, a US television said Monday, citing an unnamed US official.

US President Barack Obama is being told Mehsud was killed after a “dramatic escalation” of nine unmanned drones specifically targeting the Taliban leader in recent weeks, an unnamed official told television.

On Wednesday night, US surveillance in Pakistan spied a man on the roof of Mehsud’s father-in-law’s home in South Waziristan.

The description was of a “short, stocky man who was following the physical description” of Mehsud, television said, citing the intelligence official.

A woman was massaging the man’s leg and the Central Intelligence Agency knew Mehsud had diabetes, experienced pain in his legs, and often sought relief in that way, the report said.

Officials already had authorization from Obama to strike Mehsud if they thought they had a clear shot.

“That’s when the CIA decided to move in,” the network said the official said.

  1. Man in the White House claims “the unidentified enemy makes victory in Afganistan very hard”. Good thing England did not have this kind of leadership in 1940. A year from now this country in defeat will be running fast out of Agfanistan and it will be a matter of short time for Irak to follow course. The press and cable news stations that do not agree with the White House, “has to get out of the way”; no this is not a statament out of Chavez in Venezuela, but stated here, in the land of the free and democracy (thus far).On the other hand the people that does not like public health insurance is “the mob”. No question about it, when the red leftists take control of a society they began to sound like a new class of aristocrats. Then it would be the case of whether this country will be able to shake the nightmare we see in the horizon it is coming upon us.
